Missed Chances at Koshien – A Loss That Felt Inevitable
It was one of those losses that felt inevitable — not because Hanshin lacked chances, but because they simply couldn’t capitalize.
The Tigers put runners on base in every inning against Dragons starter Matsuba, but only managed to score once. Despite racking up 12 hits by the end of the game, they grounded into three double plays and had a costly baserunning mistake in scoring position.
At Koshien, where home runs are rare, winning often comes down to timely hitting and smart, steady advancement on the bases. Unfortunately, neither showed up today.
In the top of the 9th, reliever Kudo’s dominant outing reignited the stadium atmosphere, giving the Tigers one final push — but it wasn’t enough. Hopes for a walk-off faded, and the loss was sealed.
The Central League remains wide open, and while today’s missed opportunity stings, the key now is simple: don’t let it become a losing streak. On to tomorrow.
