Hanshin Falls to Hiroshima’s Relentless Attack – A Lesson in Grit
Tough loss tonight — a game where Hiroshima simply outplayed Hanshin.
Facing the league-leading Carp, the game featured the same Opening Day matchup: Murakami vs. Morishita — a battle of aces.
Hanshin struck first in the bottom of the 1st, taking advantage of Morishita’s shaky start. With the bases loaded, Maegawa delivered a two-run single to put the Tigers ahead early.
But in the top of the 2nd, everything unraveled.
Murakami faced an endless parade of fouled-off pitches — Hiroshima’s hitters stubbornly refusing to go down. Forced to throw over 50 pitches in just that inning, Murakami finally broke: giving up hard hits, issuing walks, and surrendering five runs as Hiroshima sent 10 batters to the plate. It was a relentless assault, and the normally electric Koshien crowd fell into a stunned silence.
From there, Morishita found his rhythm. After the 1st inning, he completely shut Hanshin down, allowing just one hit the rest of the way.
Hiroshima’s elite middle infield defense also flashed their skills, snuffing out any faint hopes of a Tigers comeback.
In the end, Morishita went the distance, handing Hanshin a complete-game loss.
But hey — that’s what happens sometimes when you’re facing an ace. No shame in it.
Time to shake it off and come back strong tomorrow!

After cheering hard during the Tigers’ first-inning rally, he decided “That’s good enough,” and promptly flopped over on the bed for a nap.
