A Game That Makes You Want to Say “No Comment.”
In the 2nd inning, Hanshin loaded the bases with a hit and two walks, then scored two runs with a sacrifice fly and a squeeze bunt.
But things unraveled in the 6th.
Starter Beasley lost command, and reliever Kudo struggled just as much, throwing two wild pitches. Then came a rare and crushing error from defensive anchor Ohyama, allowing a run-scoring hit to slip through. It all added up to a disastrous 5-run inning—completely self-inflicted.
Maybe the pressure of still not having a single home win this season is starting to weigh on the team. But more than that, the lineup simply can’t string together hits. They’ve now gone 38 consecutive innings without a timely hit. Sure, it’s only a matter of time—but when you have chances to win, you have to take them.
