Complete Victory on Kids’ Day – Murakami Shines in Shutout Win at Koshien
A convincing win!
Returning home to Koshien after a rough series at Vantelin Dome, the Tigers kicked off their three-game homestand with a dominant performance. Starting pitcher Murakami, the team’s ace, delivered a calm and steady outing from the get-go, keeping the scoreboard clean inning after inning.
Though the Tigers missed early scoring opportunities, they broke through in the 5th inning with back-to-back RBI hits from Sato and Ohyama, putting up three runs. In the 6th, Morishita added another with an RBI single, extending the lead to 4–0.
From there, all eyes were on Murakami and whether he could achieve his revenge shutout—after coming within one out of a complete game on Opening Day against Hiroshima. This time, he made it happen, finishing the game with a stellar 122-pitch shutout.
With timely hits from the heart of the lineup and a complete game from the ace, it was a textbook team win.
The game was also held on Kids’ Day, a special annual event where players’ names appear in hiragana on the scoreboard. Let’s hope the momentum carries into the upcoming daytime games too!
